There are many aspects of ourselves that we express in this world, roles we play: like mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, friend, partner, boyfriend, girlfriend, teacher, student, worker, and boss, and this is just to name a few.

With each person or experience we might be another aspect or variation on ourselves. But who we are is beyond all these roles that we play. When we leave the physical realm and leave behind the roles we have played in this lifetime, we still exist, in that way we are eternal.

So who are we then? Or perhaps another way to frame the question might be What are we? If we remove all the ways that we identify with our experience, what is left?

In quiet times or in meditation, if we sat with this thought, I wonder what discoveries might be made…
